I didn’t know funerals could be like this.
Most people are now unaffiliated to a particular religion but they still have their own beliefs.
As an independent celebrant, I will respect individual views and beliefs, and compose and conduct an appropriate, well-structured and imaginative ceremony ensuring that the person who has died is honoured and celebrated according to theirs and your wishes.
I will meet you and your family and spend time getting to know you, and to hear more about their life story, so that I can create the ceremony alongside you. I can offer advice about where to have your ceremony and talk to you about the myriad of options that exist. I will liaise where necessary, and keep you informed throughout the process. I will send you drafts of the ceremony script and we will be able to include all the personal details that will make your ceremony unique. I will guide you through the process and be a safe pair of hands for the time leading up to, and during your ceremony.
I can also help to you to run a family led funeral with as much or as little input from me and funeral directors as you need. You can take a full part in the ceremonial care of your family member and ask for advice and guidance in keeping vigil and how this might look for your family. Please get in touch if this is something you would like to talk about too. This option is more limited in these uncertain days but I hope it will be more possible in the future again.
Fees:
Ceremony in a crematorium with a single slot service – £230
Ceremony in an alternative venue or one requiring a longer service time – £330
This will include at least an hour and a half meeting with the family (or via zoom/whatsapp if needed), email contact and full preparation of the ceremony script and my time with you on the day at the ceremony.
